Have a carefree start of your long awaited holiday on Krk island by ensuring a safe & sound arrival! Known as the island by far the easiest to reach, it has various options available by land, air and sea, so pick the most convenient choice and the one that suits you best as well as friends and family you travel with.
Fly to Krk island
Can’t wait to finally land on the island? Then fly to Rijeka Airport and don’t let its name confuse you since it’s actually situated near Omišalj on the island, some 15 kilometres from Malinska. With increasingly more planes touching down at the airport year in year out, particularly during high season, flying to Krk has ensured a safe and fast arrival for visitors from numerous destinations and all directions in Europe.
Cross that bridge…
Literally and easily! Apart from being a fascinating sight, the first of many on the island, Krk Bridge connects the island to the mainland and it’s free. So, enjoy the ride over 1,5 km -long bridge and within a few minutes you’ve reached your destination.
Take the right road towards the bridge
Simple & scenic! For a comfortable and smooth ride, opt for the motorway to reach Krk Bridge. Depending on your point of entry, the motorway toll varies.
When entering Croatia near Rijeka at Rupa border crossing, simply continue along A7 motorway, then take road 102, which not only leads you across the bridge but also happens to be the main road on the island.
Arrivals from the continent are equally simple. Just take the A1 motorway, then continue onto A6 and all you have to do is follow the exit and road signs (501, then A7 and finally 102) to get to the bridge.
A1 motorway is also the one to take when coming from Dalmatia. Having left the motorway at Žuta Lokva exit and gone on through Senj, you are in for a breathtaking ride northwards along the coast with the view of impressive Velebit mountain on the one side and stunning sea with Krk island on the other.
Island hop in a ferry
Continuing your Adriatic adventure on Krk after visiting the nearby islands? Then taking a short ferry ride might prove the most convenient option. There are ferry boats from Merag on Cres island and Lopar on Rab island to Valbiska, some 15 km from Malinska.

Whether you opt to fly to Krk and admire its beauty as you land, let the impressive Krk Bridge welcome you to the island or enjoy the ferry ride, make sure your choice is the most convenient and comfortable one, so that your holiday adventure can start the moment you set off.
