Frankopan heritage
Follow the footsteps of a great noble family – the Frankopans! Once rulers of Krk, they left their mark on the island. Visit the medieval castle in the historical core of Krk town and go on a quest for remains of Gradec, another former Frankopan castle found in the forest in the Vrbnik area.
Historical towns
Feel the magic of Mediterranean towns! Apart from Krk town, the historical cores of Omišalj, Vrbnik, Dobrinj and Baška also have enchanting stories to tell. For example, in the ancient town of Vrbnik on top of a cliff you can find the narrowest street in the world. While Omišalj is one of the oldest settlements on the island, Dobrinj is known for its Glagolitic heritage. The same is true for Baška, since the oldest document written in Croatian language and Glagolitic alphabet was found in the Church of St Lucy, just outside the town.
Biserujka Cave
Stand in awe before the force of nature! See the outstanding geomorphological shapes formed over thousands and thousands of years in the Biserujka Cave near the village of Rudine. Also known as Vitezićeva spilja, the cave provides excellent refreshment in the summer heat, as its temperature doesn’t rise above 15 degrees.
Fulfinum – Mirine
Visit the ancient site of Fulfinum- Mirine! Two thousand years have passed since the Romans formed a town called Fulfinum in Sepen Cove near Omišalj. A few centuries afterwards the Christian complex Mirine was built nearby. Today, the ruins stand as evidence to a long historical journey Krk has seen.
Košljun islet
An oasis of tranquility awaits you on Košljun, near Krk town! Apart from lush Mediterranean vegetation, the islet is known for its Franciscan monastery and rich cultural heritage.
Camino and Glagolitic Alphabet trails
Discover the unique Krk heritage along the hiking trails! Camino Krk circular trail forms part of the European network of Camino routes and consists of seven stages leading through towns and villages including Krk town, Brzac, Malinska, Omišalj, Čižići, Vrbnik, Baška and Kornić. Glagolitic Alphabet trail near Baška pays tribute to the old alphabet used by Croatians for centuries. All the letters are featured along the way.

Krk Bridge
The first sight you experience upon arrival to Krk! More than 40 years old, the bridge had the longest concrete arch spanning 390m at the moment when it was built. A great way to appreciate the magnificence of its construction is to go on a sailing excursion underneath it.
